Greetings!

Field Day 2000 is THIS WEEKEND!!

YOU are invited to join us for the event.

HATS, the BLT, some HQRP folks and AMSAT Houston are getting together to
work some HF and Hamsats on the property of HATS President Ron Sparks AG5RS.
The location is a few miles due south of Brookshire. See the lat/lon and
directions below.

This year will be "rustic" compared to the giant motor homes we have enjoyed
at the Texas DX Society outings in years past, but it will be fun to do some
camping and see if we can remember how to operate below 10 Meters. When I
say rustic, I mean it. Although we may set up near or in the barn, the
"facilities" are the woods... Be prepared! We are hoping to set up two
operating positions in an air-conditioned pop-up trailer. We'll see what we
have when we get there!!

Saturday, June 24, 2000:

10 AM Arrive at Ron's Ranch and begin set up.
1 PM Field Day begins
We will send a volunteer to Dosier's in Fulshear for BBQ dinner fixins - so
bring some $$.

Sunday, June 25, 2000:

When it gets too hot, or it's 1 PM we end Field Day 2000!

Do you have a system (radio and antenna, etc.) that you would like to bring?
Let me know! We currently have two Yaesu FT-847s, some hamsat antennas &
possibly an HF (10, 15 & 20 meters) beam. Ron has a generator for the rigs
and some "house" power for lights, etc. Anyone care to string up 40 & 80
meter dipoles??

We will operate with the best (shortest/easiest) Extra-class callsign
present.
We are expecting to run class 2A, but if YOU come out with a complete
station, we will adjust accordingly. Don't forget chairs, power cords, cold
drinks, insect repellent, snacks, other food, tools, coax, poles, rope,
antennas, etc.

Here's the site info from Ron AG5RS:

The coordinates of my front gate are:

Brookshire Ranch Gate, by HL&P
Degrees	29.755943 Degrees	95.950523
Minutes	29	45.3566 Minutes	95	57.0314
Seconds	29	45	21.39 Seconds	95	57	1.88

The operating position will be closer to:
Marker Post by RLS & DGPS
Calculated Grid square = EL29as

Degrees	29.752172 Degrees	95.950397
Minutes	29	45.1303 Minutes	95	57.0238
Seconds	29	45	7.82 Seconds	95	57	1.43

Directions are as follows:

Take I-10 West from Houston. At exit #732 - Brookshire FM 359 turn Left
(south) at the light. Go 1.5 miles to the City Limits sign on the left and
as FM359 bends left, turn Right (still south) onto Church Road. It dead
ends 0.25 miles later at my gate. 2655 Church Road. Close the gate behind
you since there are cattle here. You will see the big barn. Water and
power connections are there. We can set up anywhere, but it might be most
comfortable under the 20' x 60' shed part on the east side of the barn. It
is approximately 20-25 minutes to here from West Belt and I-10.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!! We "may" have the BLT-17 T-Shirts on-site at Field Day!
If you have paid for one or more, we will segregate and tag appropriately.
If you have not yet placed an order, it will be first-come, first-served.
We have a LOT of XL shirts and plenty of other sizes from M to XXXL that
have not yet been claimed. You may be able to pick, buy and wear your new
BLT-17 shirt for the event! This assumes that the printer gets the job done
on Wednesday or Thursday. Right now, Pete WD5ELH says the "odds are good".
ALL profits from the shirt sales go to expendable BLT items like helium,
balloons, etc.
