The Special Satellite Issue Project is COMPLETE!

Thanks to the efforts of nearly a dozen AMSAT
volunteers, the November, 2001 issue of "73"
is DOMINATED by HAMSAT-related articles. This
is an informational and educational tool for
you to use to promote activity on higher
frequencies and via the HAMSATS.

The printer shipped the November issue of "73"
on Thursday, October 11th. Subscribers and
ham stores should be receiving their copies
this week. If you are not a "73" subscriber,
be sure to go to, or call, your favorite ham
store and get a few copies. Remember that this
is a tool that you can use to promote AMSAT and
the HAMSATS. The articles speak for themselves
and include material by:

Bruce Paige KK5DO on the AMSAT Awards Program
Jerry Brown K5OE on general satellite operation
Simon Lewis GM4PLM on AO-40 antennas & systems
James Miller G3RUH on the advantages of Mode S
Gary "Joe" Mayfield KA0YOS on FODTrack & 3373 Mods
Russ Tillman K5NRK on planning & designing HAMSATS
Bob Bruninga WB4APR on the successful PCsat Project
Frank Bauer KA3HDO on current ARISS Operations
Robin Haighton VE3FRH on the Future of AMSAT

Most regular columns were put on hold for this
issue. Only core topics like propagation,
letters, special events and QRX were allocated
space. Even Wayne Green W2NSD, the Founder of
"73" (and a long-time supporter of amateur radio
in space) limited his monthly material to two
pages.

The cover photo for the November issue of "73"
shows the laucnh of STS-106, the mission that
carried the first ham gear to the International
Space Station.

Don't miss the November issue of "73"! Your
support of this cooperative effort will ensure
that "73" and other amateur-radio publishers
get the message:

Ham radio's future is in space,... and we have
the answers!
