Gang,
Some of you probably already know but for those who haven't heard yet, at
tonights meeting we will discuss the loss or our current transmitter site
(in addition to being the last planning meeting prior to Sunday's running
of the Houston Marathon!). We have a backup site so don't worry about
keeping something on the air. But, details will be available at tonights
meeting so you will know the real story.
In order to discuss all the possibilities, we will have a special meeting
of the Engineering Committee next week, Thursday evening, January 19th at
7pm. As always, E/C meetings are open to any interested amateur. Nothing
will be decided "for you" at the E/C meeting. Any recommendations will be
presented at the next regular HATS meeting for discussion and a vote.
Thursday evening was chosen because our technical guru (Rick) has problems
with Wednesday nights. We just don't have time at a regular meeting to
cuss and discuss all the possibilities and take care of other items needing
attention. So, if you are interested in all the gory details and
possibilities, come to the E/C meeting.
There is no doubt that the relocation of our transmitter site to our backup
site will adversly affect a number of Houston ATVers, especially those of
you to the Northeast and East. We will be doing everything we can to
procure a better permanent site for the long term. For now, we will do
what we can to keep ATV running in the best possible locations we have.
See you at the meeting.
