FIRST, I am new to ATV so if this idea sounds screwy. SORRY
In my area (50mile radius of Morgantown,WV) there is no ATV activity to speak
of at this time. I would like to change that however.
Was thinking of trying to setup a very basic ATV repeater system to try to
foster some others to try it. So here is my basic plan so far.
Since I don't have the money for a perfect in-band ATV repeater, I was
looking at a split-site idea. 439.25 Rx system at my sisters house on a
hilltop on the southern side of Morgantown,WV linked to the repeater
controller via 2.4ghz link. The controller and 421.25Tx system located at the
local college station approx. 2 miles away from the Rx site but line of site
to each other.
RX SITE: Diamond/Comet 439.250 Verticle antenna into a PC Electronics
Rcvr, feeding a low power 2.4 transmitter on a beam antenna aimed at the TX
SITE.
TX SITE: 2.4ghz reciever with beam, signal from RX SITE into repeater
controller and output to 20watt 421.250 transmitter into another
Diamond/Comet verticle antenna.
Nothing fancy to start with as this system will not be at a real high
altitude or have a massive coverage area. Just want enough of a repeater to
get started.
IS THIS A VIABLE PLAN OR AM I CHASING MY OWN TAIL???
IS THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TWO UHF ANTENNAS TO SMALL? COULD THEY BE CLOSER
AND STILL NOT NEED FILTERS?
HELP!!!
