I am pleased to announce that the HATS main repeater is back on the air as
of this writing. It has been a long few months, and it took a lot of
effort, but it's back.
Thanks and deep appreciation is given to everyone who helped in this effort.
Especially Ed N5EM, Rick WD5BQN, Tony N5RPQ, Ed KD5ELB, Fred N5JXO, and all
the others who donated parts and time.
The repeater is set to continuous ID to allow easy tune up of
downconverters. The receiver input, however, will override this screen for
your use. Just remember to drop your carrier once each 10 minutes to allow
the repeater to ID since it is not currently on automatic.
Remember that the input frequency changed to 1265 MHz. Up 10 MHz. For HATS
transmitters, the new transmitter switch settings are in your operators
manual or on the webpage at http://www.hats.stevens.com The input remains FM
with vertical polarization.
The output frequency is 2423.25 MHz AM (note that is AM) vertical
polarization. A downconverter tune-up party is coming soon and you will be
able to claim one free if you paid your dues for this year (2000). Ed N5EM
will coordinate the tune-up activities.
Good luck on your reception efforts. Please keep us posted on any
successful configurations and distances. The first sucessful reception was
Ed N5EM with his new Icom R3 and NO antenna at a distance of 3 miles. The
second successful reception was Rick WD5BQN with a cut down C band horn and
a Conifer downconverter at a distance of about 8 miles. Both were P5.
Have fun,
Ron Sparks - AG5RS
