If you respond to John, please add Kd5inm@aol.com to the email list as I do
not know if he is on all lists.
John,
>From what you say, I would think that you would get your 40 miles of
coverage with 10-20 watts. More power might overcome problems that may show
up in some areas, but you can always add an amplifier later.
If it were me, I would choose horizontal, then those at home with a regular
TV antenna would be able to receive as well by turning on the cable channel
57 connected to an outside antenna. Here in Rockford, hams not yet into ATV
will watch ATV for the first time by using the cable method.
Check out PC Electronics. There web site address is under "Favorites" on our
web site, address below.
The other questions I will leave for those that actually have a ATV
repeater.

Hello All,
A few of us here in North Texas, near Wichita Falls are trying to get an
ATV repeater setup, we have been graciously been given a site on a tower
with
an existing VHF Ham repeater and some other UHF commercial equipment, the
owner has told me that he doesn't think we will have any problems with
interference with/ from the other equipment.
I am wondering if any one out there has any "words of wisdom" for a bunch
of crazy Hams trying to set up a repeater, so far it is preliminary, 421
ouput/434 input, with antennas between 200 and 300 foot and pretty much
flat
land....What antenna would ya'll use, horizontal or vertical, we want to use
it also for stormspotters for radar feed, How many watts of power to cover
about 40 miles in all directions(radius) with a P4-P5 picture.
What are the members of this list using for repeater equipment?? Where
might I find used equipment??
Thanks for the bandwidth! and 73's John KD5INM
