[HATS] repeater status

Yes folks it is a repeater! I was uplinking some NASA video yesterday and
was watching the signal back from the repeater. Here at the workplace I must
limit rf emissions but I was in the repeater p3 with 2 watts feeding 140
feet of 9913 into a wooden yagi (22 el I think). There are some quirks that
I need to discuss. I was unhappy with the results I was seeing on the 2.4
downlink side so I went up to the receive site to check out the signal. I
tuned up the cavities, moved the audio input to the "composite audio" jack
(sorry Ron, the XLR xfmr wasn't working) and watched the signal being fed
into the transmitter. I watched the power output from the repeater
fluctuating so I switched back to the id'er and it was rock solid. I knew
that you had to have video into the transmitter before it would key up but
it looks like it has to be pretty good video for it to stay keyed up solid.
The sound output back at the shop was as good as it gets.

I will be glad to snatch the receiver and bring it back to the shop to
install the down east microwave preamp if you think it necessary but as it
stands now, we do have a working repeater. I watched for Andy last night
doing the Amsat net but he may not be ready yet. If you were sketchy into
the repeater last year during the marathon, I wouldn't even get cold this
year but if you were solid last year your repeated signals should be
amazing. I just wish I could radiate 18 watts from here.

I have the repeater on a monitor here at work and will call you and tell you
how you are doing if you don't have your downconverter and antenna up yet. I
really need people to shoot some video so that I can tell if the repeater
needs work.
