Greetings!

In an effort to check out our Marathon gear via the
repeater, we (WA5TWT & W5ACM) observed the following:

Rcv on 2.4 was not possible at WA5TWT in Sugar Land.
The audio subcarrier however, WAS heard correctly.
Transmit on 1.2 was quite marginal at P0 (2W to Yagi).

Rcv on 2.4 at W5ACM was color at about P3. Ant was a
large BBQ grill (vertical polarization) with two
different HATS dwncnvtrs. No difference noted between
the two units. The TV was on Ch 9 and required
no tuning. The picture was comparable to the 70-cm
signal seen in "the good old days" on a marginal day.
It was NOTHING like the quality noted on the 1.2 GHz
FM signal we used to see from the repeater (when we
had a 1.2 GHz FM rptr xmtr).

XMT was very good on 1.2 with color seen via the 2.4
rptr output. Pwr was 16 W to a 45 el vertically
polarized loop Yagi. Some dropouts were noted that
did NOT correlate to anything going on at W5ACM...

All W5ACM antennas are 6' over the peak of a two story
house near Bisonette (sp?) and Highway 6 with a
relatively clear shot to the east (the repeater).

WA5TWT's xmtr is HATS "stock" and easily set for
1265 MHz. W5ACM's xmtr is an early HATS prototype,
but was quickly adjusted to 1265 with help from
WA5TWT.

We're ready to roll for Marathon 2001!!!

We'll SEE you later from Mile marker 12!

(also looking for AO-40 on 2.4 GHz...)
