First of all, I haven't looked at the 2.4 ghz. output lately - I still have
no tower to do it from. Yes, I realize that the signal is sub-par. I have
in my garage a 50 watt amplifier that needs some tuning and integration to
install at the repeater output. That will take us from 10 watts to 50
watts transmitter power output. That project needs some rack slides to
mount the amplifier and then needs to be tuned down into the ham band to
our frequency. I'm not entirely sure what will be needed to make it
ready. Rick is working 12 to 16 hours a day at his office. He can't take
on any additional amateur stuff until that situation changes - at least a
couple of months away.
Secondly, we are still using a piece of 1/2 inch heliax cable for the 2.4
ghz. system. This needs to be replaced with 7/8 inch heliax to reduce the
cable loss.
These issues need champions to push them through. The core of HATS can
only do so much - we have jobs, kids, wives and stuff that interferes with
our hobby just like other folks.
Believe me, I want this to work as badly as all do, and I dare say, more
than anyone else. We decided to have the next work party at Ron's barn on
Saturday morning, March 3rd. Please plan to be there and help us get the
Site B repeater running and ready to install. Also, if you have the
necessary time and energy to take either of the 2.4 ghz. projects
(amplifier / new feedline) upon yourself and push it to completion, please
let us know.
