We are hoping to have lots of people for this one so here is some
organizational info and needs (see P.S. at bottom):
Site-
* The work will be in my barn. It is metal, and dry with a concrete
floor, but unheated/cooled. Dress accordingly. Weather prediction is
scattered showers & 50 until late morning then partly cloudy and 60ish
for the rest of the day.
* It has been raining heavily. The road is all-weather, but the space
to the north side of the barn is not "official" road yet. If your
vehicle is prone to getting stuck, park inside the flagged circle on
the garage side of the barn. It is covered with the same all weather
limestone so you will have no problems there. Just try to leave space
for people to come and go.
* I have a refrigerator in the barn if you want to put stuff in it.
Power is too limited for electric heaters or stoves. I will arrange
for coffee if we want though.
* The house has a bathroom we can use for "contemplation activities",
but the XYL will require you "do the Japanese thing" and remove your
shoes before entry.
Food-
* It is 1.5 min. to Burger King or Jack in the Box. It is 7 min. to
Dozier's BBQ (probably the best smoked turkey sandwich I ever ate).
George T's will deliver pizza or fried chicken. So bring some small
bills for lunch as we will probably create a "pool" and get some of
the above for eats.
* I have some soda's but you may want to bring a few, especially if
you have a preference as to type. I sorta' view it as a pitch 'em in
the ice chest and everybody shares.
Tools-
* BRING TOOLS. I have the specialty stuff, but with 8-12 people we
won't have enough to go around. We have a Bird wattmeter, but could
also use some extra DVMs, wire strippers, etc. MARK YOUR TOOLS. Mine
are unmarked mostly so any unmarked tools become mine by default
<grin>.
* BRING GLOVES. The stack of HATS stuff to be inventoried is behind a
stack of my stuff that needs to be moved. The HATS stuff has been
stacked long enough that it is dusty. I recommend gloves to help when
you begin sorting all this out.
Fun-
* If anybody wants to put an antenna up and do some "field day" type
operating, great. Go for it. I have had real good luck on 10 and 20
meters from here.
* We have lots of different things to do, so there will be something
for everyone. The objectives are: 1. Get the repeater finished
and test and fix the antennas, 2. Have fun and do some "eyeball
ragchews".
* If you want to just show up, please do so. If you want to bring
something see the "P.S." below. Either way come if you can.
See You Tomorrow!
