Videolynx has just finished the design of their new Z23B 23cm 2 Watt ATV
transmitter and we have had the opportunity to bench check it. Production
units will be available for shipment in early August.
Two watts with this ready to go transmitter to a 2424LYRM Yagi should be
plenty to get to a local ATV repeater if line of sight, but can drive a
Downeast Microwave amp if necessary.
A front panel digiswitch selects the standard FM ATV frequencies of 1252,
1255, 1265 or 1280 MHz. Other frequencies are available on special order in
the range of 1248 to 1288 MHz center frequency (keeps the sidebands within
the lower band edge and away from weak signal on 1296 MHz).
RCA jacks are used on the front panel for composite video and line audio
input to make an easy cable match to camcorders and other consumer video
equipment. Controls are provided to set the video for the standard 4 MHz
deviation and for 50 kHz audio deviation on the 5.5 MHz sound subcarrier.
Standard video pre-emphasis is built in. RF output is a BNC jack and a
coaxial power jack is used for the externally supplied 12 to 14 Vdc at a
nominal 1 Amp power mounted on the back panel. A small fan is built in to
keep the unit cool during long continuous duty key down periods. The
aluminum case measures approximately 4.2x2.5x5.5 inches.
The Z23B sells for $349 delivered UPS surface in the contiguous USA from P.
C. Electronics. I can email a jpeg photo of the front panel to hams who
request it.
An AM ATV version will also be available soon.
