[HATS] Put on your thinking hat!

Here is the problem -

I have a Spectrum Analyzer that only goes to 1.5 GHz. Poor Me!

I want to design a circuit to put on the input to convert 2.0 - 2.5 GHz
down to 1.0 - 1.5 GHz.

Here is how I propose to do it.

I need a PLL like the one in the HATS transmitter to generate 1.0 GHz
signal. I feed that and an antenna into a mixer. The output will be both
2.4 GHz + 1 GHz = 3.4 GHz
and
2.4 GHz - 1 Ghz = 1.4 Ghz which my analyzer can handle.

I know the levels will be critical, but what do you geniuses think about
this product? It should be small, and run on low power. It could even be
scaled to other bands if the components are available.

What do you think?
