Thanks for the info.
RTV is the official name for silicone sealers and adhesives. The
non-corrosive type Material Safety Data Sheets don't show either ammonia or
acetic acid. There is a lot of stuff floating around that is being
advertised as okay to use on electrical circuits, but that really isn't. I
don't know whether that is vendor misunderstanding or outright apathy about
the truth. That is not to say AS&S is either, I would just have to look.
Generally if it costs about $3-4 / 3 oz it is very likely to be the
"standard" type. It must say non-corrosive and electrical on the package.
Basically I just don't want to guess so I am willing to spend the extra few
cents per connection to be sure.
I got my brand new AS&S catalog out and can't find them. If you have a page
number, I'll look it up.
