To All Houston area HATS members,
Take this as an open invitation to the tower moving party for the
westside repeater. As many of you know my family was
unceremoniously ousted from our home by the dreaded toxic mold.
We had to move out to our country place in Chappell Hill. It has
taken me many months to get our stuff out there and semi-
unpacked. During this time I have been below the radar so to
speak, busy getting our new home setup and organized, getting the
new farm jump started and dealing with corporate restructuring at
work. (sigh!)
Now comes the big project! We need to disassemble the big tower
and move it out to Chappell Hill. I am in need of ground crew as
well as tower climbers to assist in the tear down. All of the
hardware is stainless steel so that shouldn't be a problem but I
need to find someone with a tower jack and I need to get my
ginpole back from our fearless leader. If noone has a tower jack
I guess we will make due with a bottle jack and some 4x4's. Those
of you who remember the sledge thru the roof incident would rather
I have a tower jack! And do not forget your hard hat when you
come out to help! :-)
A lot of the smaller stuff has been moved, the satellite tower and
the satellite dishes have all been moved to clear room at the base
of the tower. This weekend (saturday the 8th) I will be removing
the feedlines and brackets from the tower.
Reassembly of the tower should be a lot easier than last time. I
now live next door to a guy who installs power poles for a living
so he has BIG bucket trucks at his disposal. He just cant bring
them into Katy.
The details:
When: June 15th Saturday starting at 9am
Where: 21107 Carmel Valley, Katy 77429 Settlers Village Subdv.
RSVP: 713-319-0781 or 979-251-9522 or n5mbm@n5mbm.net
Please let us know you are coming so we have an idea of how much
pizza/WATER/soda/beer to have on hand. And a quick word of
warning - sunscreen!!! The old house is being built back after
internal demolition so it is empty - there is no air conditioning,
nothing to sit on and the back yard resembles a small jungle.
Thanks to all of you for your past support!
Bill Potter - N5MBM
