As of this writing, we still have not heard whether Saturday access to the
repeater site will be available. In addition, three different weather
forecasts list the Saturday rain/thunderstorm probablility at between 75%
and 90%.
NONE OF THAT MATTERS THOUGH.
There are about two or three hours of "finish up" work that needs doing to
get the repeater ready "to fly". I need some volunteers for 9am to noon
Saturday to finish things, and help me set the unit on a dolly so that we
can load it when we are ready to do the install.
YOU DO NOT NEED STRONG TECHNICAL SKILLS TO DO THIS WORK. Here are some
things that need attention:
1. Put connectors on one end of heliax runs.
2. Hook up 12 volt DC indicator lights and power connections.
3. Put connectors on LMR jumpers to finish connections.
4. Mount side panels on the rack and install the new locks.
5. Mount the digital temperature guage so the camera can see it. Ditto the
callsign "target".
6. Cut the back out of a metal box I have so that it fits the new power
outlet forming a locking cover (I have all the stuff, just need someone with
patience and a little filing/grinding muscle).
7. Dress the 70 cm antenna leads with Scotch 88 tape and ohm them out.
8. Mount the new monitor in the rack and "dress out" the opening.
9. Mount the new video amp and the external BNC connectors for repeater
linking.
10. Bring donuts.
See, there is something in everyone's skill set. We REALLY need you to come
help so that this box can go into service soon. If you want to see a more
detailed, technical work list -- let me know.
Please reply to AG5RS@arrl.net to let me know you will be coming. I will
respond with directions if you ask for them.
