The February meeting of the Houston QRP Club will be held on Saturday, 
February 23rd from 9am until 11am at the Houston Arboretum in Memorial Park.

This month is a great program.  One reason I'm publishing this notice to 
the ATV club is because of that special program.

1.  Bill Hickox, K5BDZ will deliver the first part of the program on 
Antenna Baluns and Chokes.  A man with a great deal of experience on this, 
he will certainly help you understand the subject better and maybe even 
learn some tricks on building them.  He even hinted at some samples to pass 
out.

2.  Ron Sparks, AG5RS will repeat his presentation on using EZNEC for 
Windows - antenna modeling software.  Learn how to use this powerful tool 
to model and better understand how your antenna really works -expecially in 
the real world.

There will be two door prizes to give away.  First, Andy MacAllister, W5ACM 
has donated a copy of Rich Arland's new book, Low Power Operating published 
by the ARRL.  Great subject and a great author.  You want to get your name 
in the hat for this one.  And, second will be a kit from Steve "Melt 
Solder" Weber, KD1JV.  Steve recently kitted a 10 year old design of Wes 
Hayward, W7ZOI - his NE555 based keyer.  This has been redone in all 
surface mount components as a practice kit to get better at building with 
SM parts.  Its a single paddle design and is about 2 inches square.  Neat 
kit if you want to have something to improve your skills with SM parts.

The repeat of the EZNEC demo was by popular demand after a good number of 
the club missed this one when we did it last November.  Don't miss it this 
time around!

Make your plans now for Saturday morning and be there!

And, everybody remember F8 for Mark when he forgets the magic code to work 
the projector :-)

Directions to the Houston Arboretum.

 From the 610 loop just north of the Galleria, proceed East (In toward 
town) on Woodway for only a few hundred yards to the entrance on the South 
side of Woodway to the Houston Arboretum.  It comes up quick after you 
leave the feeder of the 610 loop!  Turn into the Arboretum and proceed 
SLOWLY down the drive to the parking lot in front of the building.  Park 
anywhere in the parking log.  Go into the nature center building and turn 
left and proceed to Classroom A.  You can't miss our group.
