Hi, everyone:
I have an old Dell computer that I want to up-
grade, and need some advice on two of the mods that
I want to do for the time being.
The first mod is to replace the 486DX33 processor
with a 486DX2-66 chip. Will I need to change any of
the jumpers on the motherboard, and if so, which
ones? (This computer came without a manual.) While
I have a manual for a 486 motherboard that I picked
up recently, I would think that not all motherboards
are alike, and what the manual says might or might
not be correct for this one.
The other mod concerns the two floppy drives.
Drive "A" is 5.25 inches, and drive "B" is 3.5 inch-
es. I want to make the 3.5 drive to be drive "A".
How do I go about doing this? Can I switch hookup
cables? Or should I make changes in the system BIOS
in SETUP mode? I want to load a later version of DOS
than what it currently has, the computer won't
load from drive "B", and the DOS commands "ASSIGN"
and "SUBSTITUTE" didn't work. I don't want to get
rid of the 5.25-inch drive (or the computer, for
that matter).
Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

                                73, Mark, KE5MY
