I am running Windows 98 with Office 2000
at home. I found "Front Page Express" on
my PC -- I'm assuming it's a stripped-down
version of FP2000. Never used it, though.
I don't do much HTML editing at home, but
when I absolutely "have to" I use Notepad+
(a freeware replacement for Windows Notepad).
At work (JSC) I use ColdFusion Studio 5.2
from Allaire. They also market HomeSite,
which, IMHO is the absolute BEST HTML editor
you can buy. It's the HTML editor used in
their CFStudio package.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not edit HTML pages
using Word!!! If you do, the software will
add HUNDREDS of extra lines of XML code into
your page. Looks great in the browser, but
pity the poor chap that has to edit that page
next!
I've read reviews for HotMetal, another
shareware editor, but, again, I've never
used it.
Hope this helps!
