Hello, All,
Nice to see all the folks there, including N5EM.
A good meeting with lively discussion on topics from headphones to
Rockmites to digital cameras to portable QRP rigs, of which W5ACM brought a
stunning example, a 40-M transmitter/receiver combo with a BC-453 rcvr, an
Ameco AC-1 xmtr, mag-mount 40 meter whip, hand key, speaker and SWR bridge,
all powered from an inverter to run on 12 VDC. All of this was mounted in
a Husky chrome plated tool box
Andy's "You Must Kidding" "portable" rig was, indeed, portable but
reminiscent of those first loveable, but 'luggable' ,portable PC's. Job
well done, Andy. Andy did comment that he looked forward to the day
when technology would allow for a multi-band rig in a slightly smaller
package........Don't get in a hurry now, Andy, we will just have to be
patient and wait for technology to catch up with the demands of the Ham
community. :-)
Mark's Rockmite was also a 'looker' ....1/2 watt out 40 meter transceiver
for $25. Fits in a machined Aluminum cases that is smaller than those
infamous Altoids tins. Apparently, the Rockmite is featured on the front
cover of the latest QST. Check it out.
Next Month.....
We will continue with the annual QRP in the Park, April 26nd at Memorial
Park Picnic grounds....details to be out soon and on the HQRP
website. Spread the word to your local Radio Club folks. This is the one
HQRP event that you don't want to miss.
Happy QRP'ing.......Regards...Rick..W5RH
