MosQRPitos,
I tried this last year. Conditions were TERRIBLE, but I am ready to give it
a go in 2005. It may seem early to sign up for a number, but if you are
interested in participating from a remote location, go ahead and request one
now!

Adventure Radio Society
Flight of the Bumblebees
July 31, 2005
The contest announcement is listed below. We're starting to assign Bee
numbers.
DATE -
July 31, 2005.
TIME -
This is a four hour event. It runs from 10:00 PDT, 11:00 MDT, 12:00 CDT,
1:00 EDT to 2:00 PDT, 3:00 MDT, 4:00 CDT, 5:00 EDT.
That's 1700 to 2100 UTC.
CATEGORIES -
Both home-based and portable operations are encouraged.
BE A BEE -
Participants who want to operate as Bumblebees are assigned a Bee number.
You may receive a Bee number at any time up to two days before the contest.
For a number just send an email to hjohnc@core.com
Bumblebees agree to walk, bike or boat to their sites. The distance traveled
to the site is at the Bumblebee's discretion.
Bumblebees add "/BB" to their calls.
There is no limit on the number of Bumblebees.
EXCHANGE -
If you are a Bumblebee, your exchange is RST, state/province/country, and
your Bumblebee number. If you are homebased, your exchange is RST,
state/province/country, and your power.
POWER -
Maximum power is five watts.
BANDS -
We operate CW on 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, on the standard QRP frequencies.
SCORING -
Each contact will receive one point. The same station can be worked on
different bands for additional QSO points and multipliers.
Contacts with Bumblebees generate a 3X multiplier. So your score equals QSO
points times the number of Bumblebees, times three.
Here is an example. If you make 20 contacts on 40 meters and 30 contacts on
20 meters, and make a total of 25 Bumblebee contacts on both bands, your
score is (50) X (25) X (3), or 3750.
AWARDS -
Commendations are awarded to the high scores for the homebased and Bumblebee
participants. We will also commend Bumblebees in the following categories:
Most interesting equipment,
Most outrageous venture, and
Most beautiful site.
POSTING SCORES -
Scores MUST be reported using our automated contest reporting system, which
is found at http://www.arsqrp.com/ars/bb_log.html
The deadline for scores is August 8, 2005.
RESULTS -
Results are posted in mid August in The ARS Sojourner, the QRP-L Internet
Group, and by direct email to ARS members.
SOAPBOX -
You are encouraged to submit stories and photographs of your Bumblebee
adventure for publication in The ARS Sojourner.
GROUPS -
Group operation is welcome in the Flight of the Bumblebees. You are limited
to operating a single transmitter at a time.
