Hello everyone,
I have a Ten-Tec T-Kit model 1253 shortwave
regenerative receiver that seems to have developed
an annoying problem.
The problem is that there is some sort of noise
which sounds like "continuous crunching" or
"continuous thunderstorm static". It increases with
volume, is not affected by the settings of the
RF Gain and Regeneration controls, and is present on
all nine bands (at the same level).
I have opened up the receiver, have checked the
batteries (they're OK), have checked the connections
to the battery holders, and have sprayed a little
lubricant into the Power switch, all to no avail.
I don't think the noise could be caused by T.S.
Lili (too far away from Houston), or by local
weather (mostly sunny), and even if there had been
any thunderstorms in the area, the static that they
would create wouldn't sound like what I'm
currently experiencing with this receiver.
Does anyone have any ideas and/or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
73, Mark, KE5MY
