Mark,

I can't advise you about the virius problem as far as what to delete, but
I would recommend that you take a look at Symantec's web site. I am
planning to purchase Norton System Works 2003 Professional Edition, as
soon as I get my Toshiba Tecra 8000 back up and running properly. I
recently had a memory problem that was diagnosed as a HD problem. They
re-formatted my HD and failed to Backup all of programs. Yep, Kind of
expensive Repair you might say. <www.symantec.com>

Also, here is a thought concerning not being able to delete a file on your
system. Some files are HIDDEN or made READ ONLY. You can go to DOS and
Change to that Directory [cd X:\Directory etc.] then issue command attrib
-s -h -r which will release the attributes which are preventing you from
viewing or deleting the files. you can restore them with the command
attrib +s +h +r WARNING! If you do this in the Root C:\ Directory or
the C:\WINDOWS directory be very careful, there are some Hidden Systems
Files located in those spots (The REGISTRY, and IO.Systems for example)
which MUST BE THERE for WINDOWS to Work. Don't ask how I know so much
about this subject. :^} Let's just say that I have about 50 Pounds of
Computer Reference books on my desk (Local Library) for research on my
LapTop Computer Disaster. VxD drivers and Registry Problems are not fun
things to play with IMHO. I would rather be a user than an A+ Technician.
:^}

Good Luck. Remember BACKUP FIRST! If you can't do it, Get Help First.

Replacing Software can be more expensive than the Computer. I can now
speak with the voice of experience!
