[HATS] Question on 2.4 gig stuff

I recently got a 2.4 gig transmitter/receiver/outdoor-use color camera combo
from the folks at www.x10.com for a reasonable price ($100 for all 3,
shipped). It looks like a Wavecom Jr. knock-off at a lower price. You have
a choice of 4 frequencies, which aren't listed in the minimal literature.

Have any of you played with this? This one doesn't look like it has a
resistive pad; the surface mount components after the output stage were
capacitors. I'd like to at least add a MMIC amp for a little more range.

Also, what's a good antenna for use on a kite or RC plane? Is there
anything that would be better than a 1/4 wave groundplane? How about the
receive end? Is a helical a reasonable choice?

For more info, check www.x10.com for 'XCam Anywhere'. I don't work for or
with them; I'm just a customer.

Thanks and 73,
Jim
